Contraception The Facts Workbook and DVD/Video by David McLean (Classroom Resources)
Contraception – The Facts is an Australian-made video or DVD, written and presented by practising doctors to give a teenage audience practical advice on the types of contraception available and the advantages and limitations of each. It includes information on natural, barrier and synthetic forms of contraception, outlining how they prevent conception in a language which is easily accessible to the target audience.
It is ideal for use in PSHE or Science Lessons with a sex education focus. It is suitable for use with pupils across the secondary age range and could even be used with sixth form pupils.
The information presented in the video is backed up by a UK workbook: Contraception - The Facts, which tests comprehension of the material presented in the video and provides activities to test pupil’s prior knowledge before watching the video/DVD, memory retrieval, extension and application of that knowledge after watching the video/DVD. The 20 worksheets are accompanied by teacher’s notes, which together form a self- supportive scheme of work.
20 photocopiable masters and video/DVD.
